Torrent Joins the Halo Championship Series

Feb 10

The Flood is here.

Comprised of rising stars within the Halo Infinite professional scene, Torrent Halo is the new blood you should be rooting for. They're hungry to prove what we're capable of on the big stage and everyone at Torrent is incredibly excited to support their professional ambitions. Torrent is the first Minnesota-based esports organization to join Halo Infinite esports.

“As a legacy franchise, Halo has played an instrumental role in shaping the development of esports in North America,” said Wade Penfold, VP of Esports, Wisdom Gaming. “With Halo Infinite, we are entering a new era for Halo esports and Torrent as an organization. We’re excited to welcome HotShotGhost, Abature, Huss, and FilthyG and we look forward to the new content provided to the community  and organizations.”

Since the launch of Halo Infinite, we've focused on scouting the perfect roster to make a splash in HCS. Today, we're happy announce we've finally found them. Our new roster includes:

  • Gavin “HotShotGhost” Brewer: A newer name in the Halo Infinite landscape, HotShotGhost has quickly established himself as a standout and a player to watch.
  • Austin “Abature” Johansen:  Gaining his notoriety for dominating the competition in Halo 3 wagers, Abature has repeatedly taken pickup teams to the top 16 placements throughout his Halo Infinite career thus far.
  • Brant “Huss” Hussey: Bringing a sense of leadership to the team, Huss is another rising star within the competitive Halo Infinite scene. Handpicked for the starting roster, Huss will have an integral role on the team and its improvement.
  • Oliver “FilthyG” Gerlach: Along with Huss, Filthy G was selected from an existing Top 16 roster to join Abature and HotShotGhost. FilthyG has professional experience, with previous performances under organizations like XSET.

“The excitement around Halo Infinite comes on an entirely new level,” said HotShotGhost. “The excitement and support for our first in-person LAN as a new team is unmatched. I’m thrilled to join Torrent and look forward to this next chapter within my professional career as well as this new era for Halo esports.

Our Halo roster will debut at the upcoming Halo Championship Series North American Regional event in Anaheim, California, on February 11, 2022.
